1. Prepare
a 2-page op ed piece discussing the effect of environmental laws on environmental
quality in air, water and/or land. Is quality improving? How much does
this improvement cost? Students should refer to and use quantitative data
on quality versus cost. Such information may be found on government web
pages, in government documents, and by several well-known authors e.g.
Portney of Resources for the Future.
2. Connect
to the EPA web site: www.epa.gov. Answer the following questions. Finding
information on the Internet is much more efficient if you know where to
look. To help, the questions are grouped according to the main menu on
the EPA home page. Note that there are many ways to get to the same information
though few are obvious on this web site.
